For the client Stockton Borough Council the works at Norton Primary School have been carried out over two phases, the first phase was carried out in the summer 2011 and the second in summer 2012.

The first phase of works known as 'Key Stage 1' and the second 'Key Stage 2' were very similar and comprised of extensive alterations and refurbishment of internal areas of the school and small extension infills. The new blockwork extensions were carried out together with associated mechanical and electrical works.

The refurbishment of some of these existing classrooms involved the removal of walls, partitions and floor finishs allowing us to enhance the classroom sizes and provide additional areas to be used for storage

The existing school structure is a single storey load bearing masonry structure with brick/block cavity walls and pitched slate tiled covered roofs, therefore the small extension infills had to be constructed using traditional methods which made the programming of the works challenging to complete in a short contract period
