« Back to Portfolio

Client: Diocese of Middlesbrough
Design Team: Gilmore Harris Architects

The works on behalf of the Diocese of Middlesbrough, working in conjunction with Gilmore Harris Architects, involved an addition of a new extension to the existing building and an area of internal refurbishments.

The purpose of the project was to provide the school with some much needed room to expand its administration function and provide a new main school entrance for visitors as well as creating a direct access route for the Nursery.

Enabling works included stripping out an existing upvc lean-to entrance lobby and associated floor slab to allow for forming the new extension. The new extension is constructed from a combination of ‘Aire’ Artstone Pillars and a feature header band, large floor to ceiling windows with intermittent ‘Victorian Multi Smooth’ Brick Panels.

Internal alterations included strip out of existing fixtures and finishes to the existing head teachers office and making ready for new fixtures and finishes. Strip out walls, doors and sink unit to nursery kitchen area.

In order to link in the new extension to the existing it was necessary to break through from the existing building and form new openings to construct a new internal layout to form the new administration office, entrance lobby  facilities, disabled WC, staff kitchen and nursery kitchen area. To complete the extension new fixtures and fittings, decoration and floor coverings were installed throughout.
