Client: Diocese of Middlesbrough
Design Team: Harris Irwin Architects

Working on behalf of the Diocese of Middlesbrough in conjunction with Harris Irwin Architects, a new extenstion was introduced to the school to provide an extra clasroom facility.

The main construction was made up of traditional strip foundations, with the foundation being stepped to accommodate the changes in levels present on the site. Sub-structures are in the main masonry on a concrete pad foundation for a steelwork structure. The superstructure of Steel Frame is accompanied by a steel roof construction with metal composite clad roof. The external walls are Aluminium Curtain Walling and Cedar Clad Panels.

The extensions is “fitted out” with doors, ironmongery, architraves, skirting, kitchen units etc and decorated and carpeted throughout. The heating installation is fed from a newly installed oil tank to an oil fired boiler which runs the underfloor heating installation.

Externally new decking was installed to provide gradual steps and a ramp for disabled access to counteract the major levels difference from the play area outside and that the building is atop quite a gradient.
