Re-roofing Richmond Market Hall

Client: Richmond Market Hall
Design Team: Potts Parry Ives & Young

The work in re-roofing Richmond Market Hall was a very delicate and sensitive project. The market hall, a beautiful and historic building set in the heart of the town in the market square, stands very proudly under the umbrella of the local conservation area status.

The building is in use Monday through Saturday every week of the year, and is more often than not the stall holders’ livelihood. Shutting the market hall for any length of time was not an option.

A full scaffold was erected in the Market Hall Internally and externally. The new slate roof along with glazed sections was installed over an expediated programme period of only 10 weeks.

The Market Hall is located in the centre of the busy Market place and therefore had to be carried out with consideration and planning, with special permission granted for the positioning of scaffold and also materials and skip storage.
